Product Description
Rope Trap
The Rope Trap (RT) is a simple device that adds a low-profile, snag-free attachment point to the end of a rope. The RT swallows the end of a rope and grips/clamps to it when pulled. It works like a Chinese finger trap. The harder you try to pull it off, the tighter it grips. You can use it to pull a rope thru a pulley with a smaller cord. Arborist will love how easily a rope will slip over a tree branch or through a crotch. The RT can be removed from the end of the rope by pushing the opening off the rope. It slides off effortlessly.
Instructions:
- Insert rope end fully into opening of the Rope Trap.
- Alternate pushing the Rope Trap over the rope and stretching/smoothing the Rope Trap onto the rope.
- Pull to test.
- Attach to haul line. (Larks Head knots work well)
- Haul rope up and through pulley or over branch or whatever.
- Remove Rope Trap by pushing the opening off the rope.
Tips:
- A smooth tip on the end of the rope will make the RT slide on easier. If yours is jagged, just heat it with a lighter and carefully smooth it out. Don’t burn yourself.
- Keep tension on both the rope and the haul line when pulling the Rope Trap through a pulley. This lessens the chance that the Rope Trap will get pushed off the rope by the pulley’s shell.
- Petzl Micro Traxion is not compatible with the Swaygo Gear Rope Trap. The Rope Trap will not fit through the pulley portion.
WARNING: The Rope Trap is only intended to haul/pull ropes. The Rope Trap is not strong enough for life-support or rigging.
