Single PMP is sized to fit between our Micro PMP and 3” PMPs and represents a mid-sized option for those needing the unique features of a PMP. This pulley is one of the lightest UL Certified pulleys meeting NFPA “G” General Use. In fact, the breaking strength for this pulley is the highest available based upon the strength to weight ratio.
Prusik Minding Pulleys are especially versatile and may be used in many ways, from progress capture and hauling systems to crevasse rescue, high-lines and Tyrolean traverses.
The wide base design maximizes the effectiveness of a Prusik hitch while a unique side plate formation allows the use of larger ropes in a compact pulley ideally suited for 8mm prusik. An oversized bell-shaped top hole accepts 2 large rescue carabiners or multiple small carabiners and allows the carabiners to be rotated freely and completely. Sealed ball bearings provide optimal efficiency and reduce the performance-robbing resistance that is inherent in most multiple component systems. In addition, sealed ball bearings are not prone to failure under misaligned loads or with twisted gear as can be the case with needle bearings. Solid side plates help prevent foreign object access and reduce snagging and are precisely tensioned for easy one-handed operation and secure placement at any point along the rope.

I have and use several of these pulleys for raise/ lower and haul applications. This pulley is slightly larger than a deck of cards and has very solid construction. The inside diameter of the sheave is 1.5 inches and works with 1/2 inch rope without binding the side plates, although it seems well suited for 7/16 inch rope including maxi-wear and Pit Rope.
It is what it is- you are losing a little bit of efficiency with larger ropes considering the D/d ratio using a sheave diameter of 1.5 inches instead of 2, but it is far more portable than the 3 inch pulley. It is NFPA G rated, and I have absolutely no doubt that it is. Its construction is very confidence inspiring. Like it's little brother, the micro, this pulley minds 7mm and 8mm Prusiks very well without having them to tend to ride up the side or swallow the prusik knot.
In a field test using a stamped physicians scale for the load weight, and an accurate and calibrated big game fishing scale measuring the tension, 4 of these pulleys were configured in a simple 4:1 with redirect using well worn 7/16" EZ bend. A 195 pound load was slowly lifted using a force of just under 70 pounds indicating an efficiency in excess of 90 percent. Unfortunately, our fishing scale only reads to 100 pounds and the physician's scale only reads to 350 pounds, so we were unable to to measure G rescue loads 1:1.
5 stars for what it is, 3 stars if you want it to be an efficient main pulley for 1/2 inch rope, and 4 stars as a rescue pulley, due to its size. It would be tough to put three of these in your rescue PFD or have dangling from your SAR harness all day.
